YouTube added support for HDR

Google regularly updates the functionality of YouTube with the development of technology. In recent years, users were offered the opportunity to watch content at resolutions up to 8K, refresh rate, 60 fps panoramic videos.

Now YouTube added support for movies recorded on special equipment that allows you to capture the content with a wide dynamic range of brightness (High Dynamic Range, HDR).

Of course, to display such videos will be only on monitors, TVs and other devices with support for HDR, which has not received mass distribution.

To Google say the company will work with partners to ensure that their devices without problems could play HDR video is from YouTube. At the moment the HDR support has already been added to the Chromecast media player Ultra and game PlayStation 4 console Pro.

On a conventional display HDR images-videos will be played in the standard SDR format.
