Western Digital and Samsung have extended a cross-license agreement
On the website of the company Western Digital announced the signing of an agreement on reciprocal licensing with Samsung Electronics. The agreement relates to patents on certain developments in the field of semiconductor products. It covers the period from the date of expiry of the previous agreement on 14 August 2016 to 31 December 2024.
Under the terms of the agreement, the parties have the opportunity to use development to each other in the field of multi-level cell flash memory storage systems flash memory. The original agreement, which was signed in 1997 and was extended twice, gave Samsung the opportunity to use the patented developments of the company SanDisk, Western Digital acquired in may of this year.
It is known that the agreement provides for the payment of remuneration, but financial details are declared confidential.
