VR-helmet Oculus Rift went to work for weaker PC

More than a month ago the creators of the virtual reality helmet Oculus Rift promised to lower system requirements, making the new product more accessible to a wide audience of PC users.


If used for normal operation of the device required a computer that cost 1000 dollars, now, according to representatives of Oculus VR, the price PC is twice lower.


This week the developers have released an update, after installing Oculus Rift which starts to use a new proprietary technology Asynchronous Spacewarp (ASW). Its essence is to generate intermediate synthetic frames on computers that do not can provide applications with the required frame rate of 90 fps. so even if the computer can provide a frequency of 45 K/s, the user in virtual reality will see a smooth picture thanks to the additional frame generated.


And if earlier for the Oculus Rift needed a graphics card is not worse than Nvidia GTX 970 or AMD Radeon 290, it is now quite 900/1000 series Nvidia or AMD’s RX 400.



Also, the developers reported that on 6 December, when the sale of Oculus Touch controller, users will be able to create avatars, and the store will be a new application, First Contact, designed specifically for the Oculus Touch.
