Vice-President of Samsung Electronics Jay Lee arrested
After a brief lull, the case of bribery of the Vice-President of Samsung Electronics Lee Jay (Lee Jae-yong) was again one of the main topics in the pages of industry publications.
As we reported, the Prosecutor’s office demanded the arrest of Jay, but the court denied the request. But this issue of the de facto head of Samsung Group has not ended. And last night it became known that Jay still was arrested. He is now in custody in solitary confinement.
The arrest itself yet does not mean that Jay will finally sentenced to imprisonment. Now the Prosecutor’s office has 10 days to press charges, but she also has the ability to seek an extension of term of preliminary detention. After the formal arraignment, the court will have three months to make a decision.
Samsung Electronics shares have fallen in price on 1,1%.
