Viavi Solutions and ESPROS Photonics introduced the spectroscope for mobile devices
The company Viavi Solutions and ESPROS Photonics has announced the release of system on a chip for spectral analysis. Both are built on the basis of the developer kit.
The product uses a hybrid image sensor of the CCD type-CMOS, developed by specialists of ESPROS, and 64-channel band pass filter created by their colleagues from Viavi. Miniature spectroscope has dimensions of 2.7 x 2.7 x 1.1 mm., the Partners plan to release two versions of the product. One works in the visible region (wavelength 385-900 nm), the second in the near infrared region (775-1065 nm). Allegedly, the tiny size and low cost will allow to equip a spectroscope consumer electronic devices, including smartphones. Using built-in spectral analysis, the user can check the composition of food products, beverages and medicines.
