VESA announced the readiness of test specifications compatibility USB-C and DisplayPort Alt Mode

The organization of the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) ready test specification compatibility (CTS) output, USB Type-C and support DisplayPort Alternate Mode (Alt Mode). These specifications will allow VESA members to test their products for compatibility in the authorized testing centers VESA or independently. Currently specifications are being tested. They will be published in January 2017.

Recall that VESA has added support for DisplayPort in USB type-C in September 2014. Mode DisplayPort Alt Mode reassigning part of the SuperSpeed USB lines for transmission of data, DisplayPort, and other lines of USB type-C are used to transmit data to the AUX channel and for the function HPD (Hot Plug Detection). It pozvolyaet to use USB connector and the appropriate cable to connect monitors 4K and higher resolution. You can still data transfer SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.1) and meals (up to 100 watts of power).
