Verizon will purchase from Corning optical fiber more than a billion dollars

According to the source, Verizon Communications has agreed to purchase from the company Corning optical fiber in the amount of 1.05 billion dollars over the next three years. Fiber it took the largest U.S. operator of wireless networks to improve network infrastructure.

Under the agreement, in the period from 2018 to 2020 Corning is obligated to deliver annually to Verizon no less than 20 million km of optical fiber.

In Verizon expanding fiber-optic infrastructure considered critical for wireless network deployment in the next generation — 5G. The operator is already testing 5G network together with the supply by Ericsson. Start of commercial operation planned for 2018.
