TSMC will build in the South of Taiwan new factory for production according to the norms of 5 nm or less

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) announced a plan of investments in the development and release of semiconductor products according to the norms of 5 nm or less. This plan, in particular, provides for the establishment of a new production facility in the southern part of Taiwan. The total investment amounts to approximately 15.6 billion dollars.

Reportedly, construction will begin in 2017 and the start of serial production is scheduled for 2020. Then, in 2020, will begin the construction of lines, designed for standards 3 nm. Serial production according to the norms of 3 nm is scheduled to begin in 2022.
