Toyota may abandon the development of transport on hydrogen fuel
Toyota, buses where the fuel cell will appear on the market in early 2017, may refuse to continue work in this direction in favor of electric vehicles on batteries.
Allegedly, by 2020, the Japanese automaker will release an electric car with a reserve of autonomy of 300 km. This step will be done in the framework of the strategy to move to a full production vehicles with no harmful emissions to 2050.
Previously, Toyota was criticized electric cars for high prices and the cost of batteries and long charging, claiming that battery electric vehicles are only good for trips on small distances. Transport on hydrogen fuel similar at the time of filling the current machines with internal combustion engines. In addition, fuel cell, according to Toyota, are more environmentally friendly, cheap and durable than batteries.
It should be noted that there is not taken into account the enormous cost of deploying a network of hydrogen filling stations and emissions that accompany the production of hydrogen, negate all the talk about the ecological purity of fuel.
Anyway, the Toyota decision is probably dictated by the unwillingness of the company, first started serial release of cars with hybrid drive, to give the electric car market competitors.
