The yield rate of 10-nanometer of production is lower than expected

As you know, Samsung and TSMC have already started development of mass production of 10-nanometer process technology. Samsung announced the start of serial production of single-chip system for 10-nanometer FinFET technology in October. Later it was joined TSMC also received the first orders for the production of 10-nanometer chips.

Meanwhile, according to industry sources, the yield rate of 10-nanometer of production is lower than expected.

The result may be disruption of TSMC, according to which the production of SoC Apple A10X for tablets the next-generation iPad to begin in March 2017. Release SoC Apple A11 for smartphones iPhone 8 is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2017.

Qualcomm has ordered the release of 10-nanometer Snapdragon SoC 830 from Samsung. Technological problems forced Qualcomm to adjust the plans for 2017. Originally it was planned to produce according to the norms of 10 nm, several single-chip systems, but now the new workflow is available only for the Snapdragon series 835. System on a chip Snapdragon series 660, which will be released in 2017, will be produced according to the norms of 14 nm.
