The unemployment rate in Greece fell slightly in August

The unemployment rate in Greece decreased slightly in August, reported by the Greek statistical office on Thursday.

The seasonally adjusted index fell to 20.6% in August from a revised 20.9 percent in July. Jobless rate falls for eighth time in a row.

In annual terms, the figure was 23.4%.

The number of unemployed amounted to 984 483 people in August. The index increased by 141 342 last year and 769 16 July.

The unemployment rate among youth (15-24 years) was 40.2% in August, compared with 45.2% in the same period last year.
