The share of smartphones with dual cameras will increase to 50% in two years

Digitimes Research analysts estimate that this year the share of smartphones with dual cameras is 16%, next year the appropriate device will take 30% of the market. In 2019, about 50% of the issued smartphones will be equipped with a main camera with two image sensors and two lenses.

Dual cameras can be different, in some cases, the price of such a module is 20 dollars, while an ordinary camera the average smartphone costs about $ 8.

The major manufacturers of cameras for smartphones are a Taiwanese company Largan Precision and Genius Electronic Optical, and Sunny Optical Technology of Chinese and Japanese Kantatsu.

Largan Precision produces about 150 million modules and is planning to increase the capacity up to 190 million cameras by the end of the year. Genius Electronic, Optical and Sunny Kantatsu produce, respectively, 70, 50, and 37.5 million cameras every month.
