The server market in the third quarter of 2016 was 7% lower than a year ago

Experts of the analytical company IDC has summed up the third quarter of 2016 at the server market. From the published report, the server market in money terms for the year decreased by 7 percent, to 12,498 billion. According to analysts, this is due to the slowdown in the growth of large data centers and a decrease in sales in the upper segment. In addition, the past year has seen an increased demand due to upgrade cycle in the corporate segment. In quantitative terms, exports decreased by 4.6 percent to 2.38 million units.

Thus in the mass and medium segment sales declined by 4.9% and 4.1% to 10.3 and $ 1.1 billion respectively. In the upper segment sales decreased 25.0% to $ 1.1 billion.

The largest supplier of servers is HPE. For the year sales of HP servers decreased by 12.1% from 3,683 to 3,238 billion dollars, which led to a reduction in the company’s share from 27.4% to 25.9%.

Second place goes to Dell with a share of 17.8% corresponding to sales of 2,226 billion. A year ago indicators Dell were equal to 2,439 billion and 18.2%.

The third place is shared honey Lenovo, Cisco and IBM, as their shares, equal to 7.9 percent, 7.4 percent and 6.9 percent respectively, are close enough that the difference is comparable to the accuracy of calculations conducted by IDC.
