The owners of some of the waterproof smartphones Sony can get 50% of their value

Sony is one of the first smartphone manufacturers are starting to protect them from dust and moisture. In commercials smartphones perfectly kept immersed in water, but in practice not all of them conform to the required protection class.

Moreover, a couple of years ago Sony changed the rules for the use of their protected devices under the water, forbidden to take pictures and videos.

Outraged users have filed a class action lawsuit, in which the 24 smartphones:

  • Xperia Z2 Tablet (WiFi)

  • Xperia Z1s (T-Mobile)

  • Xperia Z2 Tablet (LTE)

  • Xperia Z2 Xperia Z2 Tablet (Verizon LTE)

  • Xperia Z3 Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact (WiFi)

  • Xperia Z3 Compact

  • Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact (LTE)

  • Xperia Z3 (T-Mobile)

  • Xperia Z4 Tablet (Wi-Fi)

  • Xperia Z3v (Verizon)

  • Xperia Z4 Tablet (LTE)

Under the terms of the preliminary agreement between Sony and smartphone owners, Sony should extend the warranty period of 12 months for those smartphones which are still covered by the warranty, and 6 months for all others. Also, smartphone owners may be interested in a 50% refund of the amount they paid for the smartphone.
