The new iPhone will retain the configuration of the plastic lens in the main camera, says KGI
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (Ming-Chi Kuo) said that Apple will keep the same configuration of six plastic lenses (6P) to the main camera of the next iPhone, which was implemented in the iPhone X.
Some analysts have suggested that Apple may use seven plastic lenses (7P) or a hybrid solution 2G3P, which involves two glass and three plastic lenses. But Ming-Chi Kuo doesn’t agree with them.
«The transition from the design to the 6P or 7P 2G3P will bring only minor improvements in picture quality, but there is a risk of shortage of components for new smartphones. It is unlikely Apple will make a decision that will cause a repetition of history with the lack of quality components for X iPhone we see this fall.»
Ming-Chi Kuo believes that next year the company Largan, which recently confirmed the development of a 3D-camera for smartphones will strengthen its position in the market where it is, and so occupies a leading position.
