The first autumn after the explosion rocket launch SpaceX Falcon 9 is scheduled for January 8
As you know, due to the September incident, SpaceX had to postpone their subsequent runs. In particular, the first after the explosion, the launch of the Falcon 9 rocket was scheduled for late last year. But it was postponed again.
Now it is reported that the next Falcon 9 will be launched on 8 January. It will orbit the spacecraft for the Iridium Next family designed for data transmission.
SpaceX also told about the results of the investigation of the incident, which occurred on 1 September last year. It is said that the investigation team came to the conclusion that the problem exists in one of three modules COPV, which is a container of helium gas intended to maintain the pressure in the tanks with liquid oxygen. In particular, the problem most likely arose due to the accumulation of oxygen between the laying vessel and the outer shell, which led to the ignition.
In General, the investigation team identified several probable causes of such a situation and SpaceX have made appropriate changes in the design. In the future, the company intends to change the design of the modules COPV so that a similar problem could not occur in principle.
