The Ethernet switch market grew by 2%

Experts of the analytical company IDC has summed up the results of the third quarter of 2016 on the market for Ethernet switches (Layer 2/3), and routers in an enterprise level. They estimate that sales of devices of the first category for the three months from July to September was 6.29 billion. This is 2.0% more than in the third quarter of 2015. Sales of routers in an enterprise level for the year increased by 2.6%, to 3.56 billion.

The leader in sales of Ethernet switches is Cisco, but its share declined for the year from 61.5% to 57.0%. The share of Huawei in the quarter was 7.2%, which allowed it to take second place, pushing HP to third. Share HP right now is 5.5%. The top five also includes companies Arista Networks and Juniper.
