The court issued a warrant for the arrest of Vice-President of Samsung Electronics
Yesterday it became known that the Prosecutor’s office demanded that the Seoul court arrest warrant for Vice-President of Samsung Electronics Lee Jay (Lee Jae-yong), who is suspected of bribery and perjury.
According to the source, today the court refused to authorize the arrest of de facto head of Samsung Group. The basis for the refusal was insufficient evidence. Kim Nam-Jin (Kim Nam-Geun), a Seoul court lawyer, accused the court of lack of determination because of pressure from the media and potentially more serious economic consequences of the arrest of Jay. He noted that the court often adopts a positive decision to arrest in such cases in the same amount of evidence.
But the fact that now the court gave an arrest warrant, does not mean that Jay will not be detained in the future.
