The Chinese company YMTC expects to begin mass production of 64-layer flash memory 3D NAND in 2019
The Chinese company Yangtze River Storage Technology (YMTC) plans in 2019 to begin mass production of 64-layer flash memory 3D NAND. This was reported by a source, citing the words of YMTC Chairman Charles KAU (Charles Kau). Note that the Cau serves as Executive Vice President of the company Tsinghua Unigroup, which owns a controlling stake in YMTC.
By the end of this year’s YMTC expects to have samples of 32-layer memory 3D NAND, and by 2020 to reduce the backlog from Samsung Electronics to two years.
Head YMTC noted that the company is expanding its patent portfolio, and expressed confidence that the development in the technology of 3D NAND in the coming years will provide it with an advantage over competitors.
