The Board of Directors of Toshiba has approved further investment in Fab 6

According to the company Toshiba, its Board of Directors approved the new allocation of funds a subsidiary of Toshiba Memory Corporation (TMC) in the construction of mi equipment factory Fab 6. Investments of about $ 978 million dollars will be used to purchase additional equipment for clean room of the first stage (Fab 6 Phase-1). At the end of June, it was decided to allocate for Fab 6 in the current year $ 1.6 billion. The capacity of Fab 6 will be completely dedicated to the production of flash memory with a volume layout of the BiCS FLASH.

Published in Toshiba’s press release says that the TMC appealed to SanDisk, partner in three joint ventures for the production of flash memory, with the question on joint investment of construction and equipment for Fab 6. Earlier it was announced that TMC will invest in the factory Fab 6 independently.
