Apple confirmed earlier unofficial information about her interest in self-driving cars. In the letter Apple sent to the national Directorate of traffic safety on highways of the USA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA), said that the manufacturer inspired by the prospects of automation in various sectors, including transport. In addition, Apple says the interest in testing the technology of self-driving cars, urging NHTSA to ensure equal conditions in the field for new market entrants and veterans of the automotive industry, which, according to Apple, are in a privileged position.

In September there were reports that Apple is cutting the unit involved in the development of driverless cars. According to the letter to NHTSA, it did not affect a fundamental interest of Apple in this area of activity.
