Tesla still be built in Australia, energy storage, and more capacious than previously thought
In the spring we talked about the fact that the Head of Tesla Ilon Musk (Elon Musk) has offered assistance to Australia in the resolution of the economic crisis. Then referred to the construction of energy storage based on modules Powerpack.
Also it was specified that the storage capacity of 100 MWh will cost Australia $ 25 million. And now Tesla has announced that it has won a tender for the construction of such a facility in the state of South Australia.
In a press release said that until December of this year Tesla will build, in Australia storage capacity of 129 MW·h and a power of 100 MW. It will be integrated with wind farm Hornsdale Wind Farm, located near Jamestown.
Storage will be charged by wind power, then during peak hours to give electricity to the needs of the state. This will allow to refuse from constant blackouts. Capacity, which, by the way, will be the largest such repository in the world, will be sufficient to provide electricity for 30,000 homes.
