System on a chip Wireless Gecko EFR32xG12 designed for IoT devices
Silicon Labs has used Embedded World to introduce the new system on a chip family of Wireless Gecko. A key feature of SoC is EFR32xG12 support for more protocols than I was capable of previously released models.
The manufacturer also notes enhancements to accelerate data encryption and increased internal memory (1 MB flash memory and 256 KB RAM), as well as enhanced set of peripheral interfaces, including the touch controller.
The new SoC supports zigbee, Thread, 5 Bluetooth and proprietary protocols. According to Silicon Labs, optimized stack architecture allows you to effectively switch between protocols. Applications of SoC Wireless EFR32xG12 Gecko related tools for home automation, lighting, wearable electronics and industrial IoT equipment. The chip is available in packages and BGA-QFN48 size 7 x 7 mm. Prices vary by model and starts at $3 apiece in bulk.
