Swift entered the top ten most popular programming languages
In the summer of 2014, Apple introduced an outdoor multi-paradigm compiled programming language for General purpose Swift. It is intended for those who create applications for Android, iOS and macOS. Swift was originally conceived as a more easy to read and error-prone programmer’s language than its predecessor Objective-C.
The TIOBE index (TIOBE programming community index) indicates the popularity of programming languages based on counting results of search queries containing the name of the language. In the latest edition ranking the TIOBE noted that Swift was in the top ten most popular programming languages in the world.
On the one hand, over the past year, Swift has risen in the ranking by only four positions. On the other hand, all other languages in the top ten for more than 20 years. Therefore, the result of which Swift has made less than three years is very impressive.
Experts note that the use of Swift only for iOS and macOS will be the reason that much higher in this ranking language in the near future will not rise.
The most popular language in the world is Java. The above-mentioned Objective-C has fallen by 15 position.
