SpaceX will launch into space the first of its kind satellite to track water surfaces of the Earth
The company SpaceX was selected by NASA to provide launch services for the spacecraft in the framework of the program Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT). It is reported by the management itself.
The mission is scheduled for 2021. The launch should take place in April. The mission cost a total of 112 million dollars, including SpaceX.
The spacecraft, to be launched in the framework of the mission, is the first of its kind satellite, designed for a global study on water surfaces of the Earth. The mission will allow scientists to collect data about changes in the oceans and seas of our planet over time. The satellite will survey at least 90% of the globe, collecting data about all possible reservoirs twice every three weeks.
The satellite developed by NASA in cooperation with the French centre National d’etudes Spatiales (CNES).
