SK Telecom and BMW introduced the world’s first cars with a connection to the 5G network

Prior to the introduction of cellular networks of the fifth generation to wait another few years. But that does not stop companies to announce some achievements and developments.

As an example of the South Korean operator SK Telecom together with BMW has created the world’s first connected car T5 working with 5G technologies. One of the centers of the automotive giant area of 240, 000m2, located in Incheon, equipped with advanced equipment mmWave 5G, operating at a frequency of 28 GHz. Due to this, companies have the ability to test vehicles that are able to transfer data with great speed.

In particular, it is reported that the transfer rate exceeds 20 GB/s. This will allow, for example, in real-time to transmit 4K video from multiple cameras, which are equipped with the car.

Now the center has two vehicles T5. Naturally, about any sale of these machines is out of the question, as their travel outside of the BMW center. More precisely, to leave then they can, but without connecting to the 5G network.
