SK Hynix begins mass production of 48-layer flash memory 3D NAND
Company SK Hynix announced that this month it plans to begin mass production of 48-layer flash memory 3D NAND. According to the source, SK Hynix will become the second manufacturer of this product, because now it produces only Samsung Electronics. For the sake of justice it is worth mentioning that SanDisk and Toshiba presented a 48-layer flash memory 3D NAND (BiCS) in March of last year, promising to begin serial production in 2016.
Flash NAND is very popular. A large portion of it is used in mobile devices and SSDs. Stable demand encourages the company SK Hynix to transfer resources to the production of NAND with the release of a memory of type DRAM. On the latter now accounts for almost 70% of all sales of SK Hynix.
The production volume of NAND company SK Hynix as a result of the release of new products more than double from the current 10,000 300 mm wafers per month to 20,000-30,000.
