Several times Apple ahead of Samsung in the market of smart watches
Yesterday, Apple CEO Tim Cook (Tim Cook) announced record sales of various devices, in particular smart hours Apple Watch, for which demand significantly exceeded the offer.
According to Strategy Analytics, Apple watch actually sold for the holidays better than all the competitors and helped this segment to return to growth (+1%). Only in the fourth quarter, it sold 8.2 million smartwatches, of which 63.4 per cent or 5.2 million units has made Apple Watch. In the last quarter of 2015 the supply of Apple Watch was 5.1 million units.
Samsung shipped last quarter, only 800 thousand smart hours, a decrease compared to the fourth quarter of 2015 was 38%. The share of Samsung in this market has decreased from 16% to 9.8% when measured fourth quarters of 2016 and 2015.
In just a year, Apple has shipped 11.6 million Apple Watch (in 2015, exports amounted to 13.6 million units), and delivery of smart Samsung hours decreased from 2.7 to 2.4 million units.
Apple’s share decreased from 65.4% to 55% for the year, and Samsung — from 13 to 11.4%.
