Samsung suggests that an additional tax on her washing machine will have a negative impact on the new American factory of the company
Previously, Samsung said that the company will invest 380 million US dollars in Newberry County, South Carolina, to better penetrate the North American market of home appliances. Samsung planned to start production at the plant in the first half of 2018.
Today, Samsung Electronics said that trade barriers that can be imposed by Washington will have a negative impact on the construction and timing of the operation of the new plant in the United States.
Samsung made the announcement during the hearings conducted by the international trade Commission USA, which earlier this month decided that the South Korean manufacturers (including Samsung and LG) are detrimental to American companies like Whirlpool. Whirlpool requires that Washington has imposed a 50 percent duty on washing machines of foreign production.
Samsung said that such restrictions can reduce the number of planned new jobs. Initially Samsung planned to hire 1,000 employees for its new plant by the end of 2018.
