Samsung is considering expansion of semiconductor production in China

Samsung Electronics today announced that it is considering the possibility of expanding the production of memory chips, located in China. The intention of the South Korean manufacturer is dictated by the growing demand for these products.

The details of the planned expansion are not available. According to the representative of the company, has not been determined nor the amount of investment, nor what kind of products will be produced in the new facilities.

Mentioned enterprise, located in XI’an, produces flash memory 3D V-NAND. It was commissioned in may 2014. The project has cost Samsung $ 7 billion.

According to unofficial sources, Samsung has already held talks with the Chinese side to expand the enterprise. Construction could begin this year.
