Samsung has licensed superhydrophobic coating on the Windows for their technology

Scientists from oak ridge national laboratory (Oak Ridge National Laboratory, ORNL) are authors of numerous developments, one of which was recently licensed by Samsung.

We are talking about the so-called superhydrophobic coating protective glass, which the manufacturer plans to use for its future mobile devices, and home appliances. This coating repels water and becomes dry immediately after the glass with the coating removed from the water.

In addition, the new coating reduces light glare, helps the glass to stay clean from dust, dirt and fingerprints.

Despite the fact that Samsung received an exclusive license to use this technology in their devices, it is easy to imagine the emergence of similar developments in other product categories. Superhydrophobic coating certainly can be successful, for example in the coating of them car Windows or solar panels.
