Samsung Display continues to dominate the display market for smartphones

According to research firm IHS, Samsung Display remains the undisputed leader in the display market for smartphones, particularly thanks to the curved OLED panels that are beginning to use the smartphone manufacturers.

The segment displays a diagonal of 9 inches Samsung Display earned 3.55 billion dollars in the first quarter of this year, occupying 27.2% of the market. The second place is Japan Display with a share of 17.8%, the third — LG Display, which won 12.2 per cent.

If we talk only about the displays for smartphones, Samsung Display belonged to 34.6%, Japan Display — 18.8%, and LG Display is 12.7%. Category displays for smartphone 76.2% of the segment of small and medium-sized panels, and the income for the year increased by 41%, making 9, 94 billion dollars.

The average size of displays has grown from 4.5 to 4.8 inches. Curved OLED displays have brought to the producers of 1.11 billion dollars, the growth was 124%. This year sales of such displays must be of 9.26 billion in 2020, income may exceed $ 20 billion.
