Samsung can teach VR headset to monitor eye and recognize facial expression
The company Samsung is considering the possibility of creating a virtual reality headset Gear VR with advanced tracking capabilities.
It’s about tracking the user’s gaze, and even his facial expressions. This can be seen from the recently published patent that was filed back in may of last year.
To be precise, the patent describes various processing of data from sensors for subsequent modeling of the user’s face. But the images make it clear that first and foremost this will be used in VR headsets. Moreover, the document also appears headset and a separate camera, which is responsible for facial expressions. More precisely, the lower part (lips, cheeks), the movement of which a headset to be tracked simply can’t.
