Research center CSNE will develop a brain implant based on the ARM architecture
The company ARM announced the signing of an agreement with the research center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering (CSNE), specializing in sensorimotor neural engineering. Under this agreement, CSNE will develop a unique single-chip system able to act as a brain implant for bidirectional interfaces «brain-computer» aimed at addressing neurodegenerative disorders.
The company says that brain implants will allow scientists and doctors to fight even with complex diseases like Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and even paralysis.
Such circuits must be very small, very energy efficient and have adequate performance. ARM believes that its CPU Cortex-M0 is perfect for making such solutions.
Of course, no specific information ARM is not provided, as the required system on a chip has not even been designed.
