Renesas Electronics acquires Intersil for 3.2 billion dollars

The IT market continues to prove that 2016 will go down in history as the year’s largest deals. Renesas Electronics today announced the purchase of the American manufacturer Intersil semiconductor products.

The transaction value is $ 3.2 billion, which is 14% higher than the market value of the shares of Intersil. The merger will enable Renesas Electronics to expand package offerings for their customers, but also to strengthen the market position in automotive electronics, where Renesas is a leader.

Of course, the company counts on expanding presence in other key markets, among them industrial solutions, cloud services, health and IOT.

The transaction is scheduled for early next year. Renesas believes that in 4-5 years the annual profit of the merged companies will reach 170 million dollars.
