QCA4020 Qualcomm first SOC with Bluetooth Low Energy 5, Dual-band Wi-Fi and 802.15.4
Qualcomm announced the release of two single-chip systems for devices of the Internet of things (IoT): QCA4020 and QCA4024. According to the manufacturer, QCA4020 first system-on-chip with Bluetooth Low Energy 5, Dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11 n band 2.4 and 5 GHz) and communication technologies based on 802.15.4, including ZigBee and Thread. In turn, QCA4024 supports Bluetooth Low Energy and 802.15.4 5.
The new SoCs are part of the Qualcomm Network platform IoT Connectivity Platform, supporting HomeKit and Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF), AWS IoT SDK and Microsoft Azure IoT Devices SDK to connect to Azure IoT Hub. They provide hardware-based remedies. An important advantage of both the SoC is low power consumption. Custom applications available allocated CPU ARM Cortex-M4, and a set of peripheral units includes SPI, UART, PWM, I2S, I2C, SDIO, ADC and GPIO.
Samples QCA4020 and QCA4024 already come to some OEMs. Available for order new SoC will be in the second half.
