Published specification PCI Express Revision 4.0 0.9

In the event PCI-SIG Developers Conference 2017 the organization PCI-SIG, engaged in the development and standardization of PCI Express (PCIe), has announced the release of PCI Express 4.0, Revision 0.9. It defines data transmission at a speed of 16 billion transfers per second (GT/s), flexible provisioning and speed. Recall that in the specifications PCI Express 3.0, adopted in November 2010, fixed the maximum speed of 8 GT/s. Offering twice the speed per line, PCIe 4.0 retains full backward compatibility with PCIe 3.0.

The developers note that the PCI Express Revision 0.9 4.0 includes a complete set of functions, so that the development of the standard has entered the final stage. According to them, the PCIe bus, originally introduced in PC, has become the accepted standard in servers and data stores. In recent years there has been the penetration of PCIe into the systems of cloud computing and mobile electronics.

The advantages of PCIe 4.0 related increased productivity and energy efficiency, reduced latency, increased scalability and improved virtualization support.
