Professionals Panasonic created the IPS display with a contrast ratio of over 1,000,000:1

Panasonic Liquid Crystal Display, which is a subsidiary of Panasonic, announced the creation of liquid crystal panel type IPS, characterized by a contrast ratio of over 1,000,000:1. This is 600 more than the contrast of existing LCD panels. Maximum display brightness is 1000 CD/m2

To obtain high contrast allowed integration panel «of cells, modulating the flow of light». Working on the principle of liquid crystals, these cells control the brightness level of individual pixels. In result, it becomes possible to transmit both maximum brightness and deep black color.

According to the manufacturer, the new display is well suited for Studio monitors with HDR support, as well as for medical equipment and instrument panels of cars.

The advantages of the development include the ability to use existing production lines. Sample shipments of the new displays is expected to start in January 2017.
