Production partners of Apple filed for Qualcomm to court
Company Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn), Wistron, Compal Electronics and Pegatron, which is Apple’s manufacturing partners, appealed to the us court in which they accuse Qualcomm of breaching antitrust law.
This step was a response to a lawsuit filed by Qualcomm in may. Referring to the court, Qualcomm hoped to get a contract electronics manufacturers to renew the license payments they stopped paying at the direction of Apple.
An Apple representative confirmed that his company is «helping to Fund the legal defense» of its partners, as set out in the contract with them.
The current lawsuit is part of a larger dispute between Apple and Qualcomm, which started in January with the fact that Apple has sued Qualcomm, demanding payment of the amount allegedly underpaid under the terms of the license agreement, which impressed the Federal trade Commission. A similar lawsuit was filed by Apple against Qualcomm in China. In April, Qualcomm said Apple’s counterclaim.
