Problem on the production camera TrueDepth for iPhone X force analysts to once again lower projections
Taiwanese analyst Yuanta Investment Consulting Jeff PU (Jeff Pu) for the second time lowered its forecast for deliveries of smart phones iPhone X.
Initially, Yuanta Investment Consulting suggested that this year Apple will be able to produce 45 million units of new products. Then the forecast was lowered to 40 million smartphones. In a fresh statement Jeff PU said already about 36 million iPhone X.
The main reason lies in the frontal camera TrueDepth, which is used to operate the system Face ID. Sources say again and again that production takes significantly more time to assemble Romeo than Juliet module.
Module Romeo projects more than 30 thousand invisible laser points to create an accurate model of the user’s face, and the Juliet module includes an infrared camera to analyze the three-dimensional model. Together, these two modules and provide system Face ID.
Jeff PU believes that mass production of the iPhone X will start in mid-October, i.e. next week. Then will begin deliveries of the first batch of smartphones in the shops.
We will remind, KGI Securities thinks that the iPhone, which will be presented in 2018, will lose the fingerprint sensor.
The beginning of sales iPhone X is expected on 3 November.
