On the assessment of TrendForce, the market of virtual reality will grow 10 times by 2020
After Canalys and IDC in its forecast regarding the market prospects of virtual reality devices shared by the experts of the analytical company TrendForce.
According to the forecast TrendForce, the shipments of VR devices in the next year will be 2.91 million units. It is a full helmet, like the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation’s VR, this is not considered a simple headset for smartphones. In 2017 the growth is expected in shipments to 5.1 million units.
Leadership tipped the Sony, which needs to ship 1.5 million PlayStation VR in 2016 and another 2.5 million set in 2017. Second and third place analysts give Oculus and HTC respectively. Delivery of Oculus Rift expected to reach 650 thousand and 1.2 million units in 2016 and 2017. And HTC will be able to ship 460 thousand hats Vive in 2016 and 600 thousand devices a year later.
Analysts also add that Oculus and Samsung are expected to release the second generation of its helmets about a year to spur demand. The production of the above devices is constrained by the shortage of key components, noted TrendForce, adding that the supply problems will continue until 2018.
