Nokia wants to sell the unit engaged in underwater communication cables

According to the source, the company Nokia plans to sell the units involved in underwater cables. Division called Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) and as the name suggests, came under the wing of the Finnish company after the acquisition of Alcatel — Lucent.

ASN is one of the world’s leading suppliers of communication cables for laying under water. It deals not only with production, but also the laying and maintenance of cables.

Nokia wants to get rid of this business, as it is not the company’s main. The interesting thing is that Alcatel — Lucent at the time, was going to sell this unit, but did not.

There is no information about potential buyers not, as Nokia had only to entrust the development of strategic options for the sale auditors. At the moment the unit is estimated at about 870 million dollars.
