Network storage Qnap TVS-882ST3 is interface support Thunderbolt 3

Qnap continues to implement the Thunderbolt interface in their NAS: in the Wake of the recent new Thunderbolt 2 presents NAS TVS-882ST3 with two ports for the third version of the standard. The presence of Thunderbolt ports 3 allows you to connect new directly to any PC, including a new MacBook Pro a certified cable with symmetrical port Type-C, achieving a theoretical throughput of 20 GB/s. moreover, the adapter Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet (T2E) allows client devices with no Ethernet port to access the NAS with a throughput up to 10 GB/s.

Storage Qnap TVS-882ST3 is available in three versions, differing in a bunch of CPU and RAM:

  • Intel Core i7-6700HQ, 4 cores and 8 threads, the frequency of 2.6/3.5 GHz, RAM 16 GB;
  • Intel Core i7-6700HQ, 4 cores and 8 threads, the frequency of 2.6/3.5 GHz, RAM 8 GB;
  • Intel Core i5-6442EQ, 4 cores, frequency of 1.9/2.7 GHz, 8GB RAM.

In all cases the DDR4 RAM can be increased up to 32 GB. For storage there are eight bays size 2.5 inches with interface SATA 6 GB/s and hot swapping support. The list of network ports consists of two 10 Gigabit Ethernet and two Gigabit Ethernet, there are also two port USB 3.1 and USB 3.0, the latter can use external disk storage for five or eight additional drives (TX-800P and TX-500P). In OS 4.3 QTS it is possible to organize cross-platform access to files with flexible configuration privilege levels, virtualization allows you to run Ubuntu, Windows, Unix, or Android, you can connect the keyboard and mouse, and monitor (to the HDMI port). Delivery NAS Qnap TVS-882ST3 has already begun.
