Network storage Qnap ES1640dc v2 received six ports 10Gbps Ethernet

The company introduced an updated Qnap network storage ES1640dc v2 3U form factor designed to operate in enterprise networks, where an important high availability, minimum downtime and high load capacity. Improvements in the new version aims to further increase performance as disk and network bandwidth.

Storage Qnap ES1640dc v2 has two motherboards based on six-core CPUs Intel Xeon E5-2420 v2. On each Board and soldered the three slots of RAM DDR3 RDIMM, of which two (total of up to 64 GB on-Board) play the role of system RAM, and one performs the tasks of the cache disk NVRAM (up to 16 GB on-Board) battery-powered and SSD size M. 2 2280 also for the purposes of caching.

Still there are 16 baskets for storage size 3.5 inches, but the interface is changed to SAS 12 GB/s, the maximum volume of one NAS up to 160 TB, but can be extended with external blocks EJ1600 v2 or EJ1600, also with a SAS interface. Two network RJ45 ports 10Gbps Ethernet (now on the base card Qnap LAN-10G2T-X550) added four port SFP+ 10Gbps Ethernet (based on Intel’s XL710-AM1).

NAS Qnap ES1640dc v2 is equipped with two power units with a capacity of 770 W and works on the new OS QES (Qnap Enterprise Storage) that is based on FreeBSD and rely on the ZFS file system. Approximate price will be $10000.
