Mercedes is preparing to release four models of electric cars

The hype around Grand plans of Tesla leaves in the shade the fact that actual sales of its electric vehicles while any comparison do not go with the sale of cars of other companies. Suffice it to say that the Tesla for all time sales, since January 2008, has sold about 140,000 units, while, say, a Mercedes-Benz over the past year alone sold 1 871 511 cars, which is 13.4% more than in 2014. Nonetheless, German carmaker does not intend to leave the emerging market segment unattended. As it became known, he plans to release four models of electric cars — two sedans and two SUVs. These models will be the basis of a new brand, as yet unnamed. The concept vehicle with electric drive, Mercedes promises to show, in September, on the eve of the Paris auto show, opening October 1. Thus, confirmed the information that appeared in July.

According to reports, Mercedes-Benz is developing a large-sized electric vehicle with a power reserve of 400-500 km, based on a completely new architecture, followed by other models.

The source quoted a company representative, who said that several years ago Mercedes-Benz was considered the technology of electric vehicles ready to enter the market. Over the years the situation has changed, so now the German automaker sees the opportunity to capitalize on electric vehicles over the next 5-10 years.
