MediaTek minimizes the production of 28-nanometer SoC
As it became known, MediaTek minimizes the production of 28-nanometer single-chip systems. This category includes SoC such as Helio Helio P10 and P15, which were produced at the plant TSMC.
The volume of orders of chips, which MediaTek has posted for the three summer months has been reduced by 30% or about 20 thousand silicon wafers. Sources believe that this will allow the company to increase production of more efficient single-chip systems, which are manufactured using 16-nanometer technology. These SoC will be able to compete with the 14-nanometer solutions Qualcomm, including the Snapdragon and Snapdragon 626 660.
Analysts say that this step is quite logical, after it became known about reduction of volumes of supplies of products in the first quarter of this year. Compared to the preceding quarter turnover decreased by 18.3%.
Experts believe that in the second half of the year the situation for the company will become even more complex.
