LG Display, BOE Technology and Tianma already this year will begin production of flexible AMOLED panels
The source claims that LG Display, BOE Technology and Tianma Micro-electronics will begin production of flexible AMOLED panels in the second half of this year. Talking about the production processes of each company separately, and not on joint venture.
LG Display will begin production of such panels later this month at the factory E5. Initially, the company will produce panels of small size. By the end of this year, the Korean giant will be released on production volumes of about 30-50 million AMOLED panels per year.
In addition, under construction now factory P10, which was originally intended purely for conventional LCD panels, will eventually be partly transferred to the production of panels with organic LEDs.
As for BOE Technology and Tianma Micro-electronics, to the production of AMOLED panels, the company started last year, but flexible panels will start to produce in the present.
For example, BOE is building a new production line for such products at factories in Chengdu and Mianyang. They will begin production later this or early next year.
