Lenovo and Xiaomi are the leaders in online sales of smartphones in India

Research company IDC reported that in the third quarter of this year in India were sold 32.3 million smartphones, 17.5% more than in the previous quarter. For the first time since the beginning of statistics for the quarter of the country’s smartphone sales exceeded 30 million units.

The leader of this market in total sales was Samsung Electronics, which demonstrated the improved performance in 8 and 9.7% compared with the second quarter of 2016 and third quarter of 2015 respectively. Samsung holds 23% of the smartphone market of India, in second place was Lenovo with 9.6 per cent, which for the quarter was able to increase shipments by more than 46%.

A local company Micromax took the third position, its supply declined by 32% and market share decreased to 7.5%. The manufacturer has faced big competition in the budget segment from local and Chinese manufacturers. Immediately followed by Xiaomi.

If separately to evaluate online sales in the third quarter, they accounted for 31.6% of all deliveries. Online sales for the quarter increased by 35%, and the leader in this segment was Lenovo, followed by followed by Xiaomi.
