It is expected that in 2017 will be made 150 million flexible AMOLED panels
According to representatives of the industry, in 2017, the world will be released in 150 million flexible AMOLED panels designed for smartphones. This is about three times more than in the current year.
The increase in supply will be largely associated with the release of the new iPhone, equipped with an AMOLED display size of 5.8 inches. Two other models of iPhone, which too is expected in 2017, will be equipped with LCD displays measuring 4.7 and 5.5 inches.
Smartphones with the flexible AMOLED screens in 2017 is also going to release the Chinese company Huawei Technologies, Oppo and Vivo.
The main supplier of AMOLED panels for smartphones is Samsung Display. Although the production of this product have already started other companies, including EverDisplay Optronics and Visionox, analysts believe that Samsung Display will begin to feel the pressure of competition on the market of AMOLED panels for smartphones not before 2020.
As the demand for flexible AMOLED panel in 2017 will be higher than supply, massively smartphones with such displays will be able to produce only Samsung Electronics and Apple.
