IOS for the last three months has increased in many markets

Analysts Kantar published statistics on the distribution of mobile operating systems in different markets according to the results of the three-month period ended in November last year.

As always, the market fluctuates depending on seasonal factors and many other reasons. Analysts say the growing share of iOS in US, UK and France, and Android in the US, by contrast, lost ground.

More specifically, the U.S. share of Android now is 55.3%, while in August reached 65.2 percent. iOS during this time increased its share from 30.9% to 43.5%, which is due to the release of the new iPhone. The source reports that the iPhone 7, 7 Plus and 6s were the most popular in the USA in recent months. Only on these three models had 31.3% of sales. Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge took fourth and fifth place respectively, taking 28.9 percent. That is more than half of the market accounted for just five smartphone models by two manufacturers. It is worth noting the results of the Google Pixel: 1.3 percent of all sales in the US for three months. The share of Windows Phone decreased to negligible values 0.8%.

In China the situation is similar. There’s iOS increased its share from 13.5% to 19.9%, while Android’s share fell from 85,9% to 79.9%. In the EU5 countries (UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain), Android’s share amounted to 72.4%, while iOS took just 24.6%.

If we consider changes over the year, the situation will be somewhat different. In China, Android’s share increased by 7.2 percentage points, while the share of iOS decreased by 5.4 percentage points. In the U.S., Android’s share decreased by 5.1 percentage points, while the share of iOS rose by 6.4 percentage points.

It can also be noted that the maximum share of Windows Mobile was recorded in Italy and is only 4%.
